A review of Alberta’s current water allocation management system is currently underway and a variety of groups have provided some initial input including:
The recommendations and insights from external review processes will help inform the Government of Alberta’s review of the current water allocation management
To build a broad understanding of issues and pressures associated with allocating water in Alberta and potential policy solutions, the Government of Alberta will
also consult the public, partners, stakeholders and First Nations.
Alberta will also continue to seek input from First Nations on water use and watershed planning initiatives throughout the province. As part of this review, the
Government of Alberta recognizes the distinct requirements for engagement with First Nations. Accordingly, a distinct, yet parallel process will be established
for a discussion on Alberta’s water management system with First Nations.
