This river basin is both a healthy aquatic environment for wildlife and fisheries and a water source for agricultural, domestic, irrigation, municipal, industrial,
and recreational users. A long period of below normal precipitation combined with increased industrial development and population growth required an update of the
previous (1985) plan. The recently updated (2006) water management plan is now the principle guiding document for water management within the planning area of the
In March, 2007, a local Watershed Planning and Advisory Council (WPAC) was established for the Beaver River Basin. The Beaver River Watershed Alliance (BRWA) is
responsible for gathering and distributing additional information related to the entire watershed area, providing water management advice to regulators, and implementing
recommendations outlined in the updated (2006) management plan.
