Review of Water Treatment Facilities

Comprehensive review of water treatment facilities to ensure Albertans continue to have access to safe, sustainable drinking water supplies is complete.

The first of its kind in Canada, the report lays out the road map for keeping Alberta's water infrastructure and operations sustainable. The assessment identifies priorities to ensure the health and safety of drinking water for Albertans now and in the future.

Key recommendations include:

  • 10- and 25- year plans for upgrading some drinking water facilities
  • Regional infrastructure and operational solutions
  • Reduced number of "stand-alone" water facilities
  • Water service delivery models tailored to local conditions and needs
