Water is not only a resource, it is a life source. We all share the responsibility
to ensure a healthy, secure and sustainable water supply for our communities, environment
and economy - our quality of life depends on it.
The Government of Alberta's renewed Water for Life strategy has three main goals:
- Safe, secure drinking water;
- Healthy aquatic ecosystems; and
- Reliable, quality water supplies for a sustainable economy.
These goals will be met through knowledge and research, partnerships and water conservation.
The renewed strategy and corresponding action plan reaffirms Alberta’s commitment
to the Water for Life approach: the wise management of our province’s water
resources for the benefit of all Albertans.
EAPFR is a one-window application process for Water Act and Public Lands Act authorizations required for recovery work as a result of the 2013 flood in Southern
Alberta's water belongs to all Albertans. How we manage it for the future is vitally
important to us all.
Ideas shared during the community sessions, through emails and online workbook submissions are compiled into a Summary of Discussions report and led to the creation
of the Water Conversation Action Plan.
Thank you for taking the time to join the water conversation.
Alberta’s Wetland Policy will be implemented in the white (settled) areas of Alberta in August of 2014 and in the green (forested) areas of Alberta in August 2015
