About this Area/PLUZ

As of May 15, 2018, the Livingstone area is regulated under the Public Lands Administration Regulation as a Public Land Use Zone (PLUZ). The new PLUZ will manage outdoor recreational activities through a designated motorized trail system and provide a range of recreation experiences.

For more information on the new Livingstone PLUZ, please see:

With the establishment of the Livingstone PLUZ, the Willow Creek PLUZ will no longer exist. However, the previous PLUZ restrictions still apply in the Willow Creek area as per signs and notifications:

  • Only off-highway vehicles (OHV) with a weight not exceeding 363 kilograms (800 lbs.) are permitted.
  • Camping is only available in the designated nodes.
  • Camping is no service and first come, first serve.
  • Camp fires only permitted in designated nodes.

The Government of Alberta is committed to working with recreation groups to develop sustainable trail systems on public lands. A summer trails map based on stakeholders input has been developed for 2018 that aligns with the Recreation Management Plan for Livingstone-Porcupine Hills.
