Fishing Season: May 15-Oct 31

Trout Pond Regulations:

  • Catch-and-release only.
  • Bait ban in effect. Note: bait is considered to be anything with a scent or flavour.
  • Persons ages 16+ must have a valid Alberta Sportfishing License if fishing or assisting youth with casting and reeling in their line.

Be a responsible angler:

  • Know the regulations for your waterbody.
  • Use barbless hooks to cause less damage to fish.
  • Handle fish with care to help them survive.
  • Clean, drain and dry ALL fishing equipment when moving from one waterbody to another.

Fishing Rod Rentals (available May 15-Oct 31 only)

Don’t have your own gear? No problem! Fishing rod rentals are available during our Discovery Centre hours.

Rods must be returned by 3:45 pm. Last rental at 3:15 pm.

Fee: $5 per rod (plus GST).
Who: Ages 4 & up*.
Where: Pick up your rods at the Discovery Centre.
When: May 15 - Oct 31 during Discovery Centre hours of operation

*Persons ages 16+ must present a valid Alberta Sportfishing Licence if they will be fishing and/or assisting youth with casting and/or reeling in their line.

Fishing Clinics

Family Fishing Clinics:

Families discover fishing together at the Trout Pond; boy fishing.

This 2-hour clinic will provide youth and their parents with the basics of fishing; including best practices, equipment, reading the regulations, & casting!

All equipment provided. No fishing licence required.

Fee: $20 +tax per person
Who: Ages 6 & up (youth must be accompanied by a paid adult)
When: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

  • Thursdays & Saturdays in August
  • Saturday, September 2, 16, 23 & 30
  • Saturdays in October

Registration:

Spaces are limited – register early to secure a spot by calling 403-297-6561. Payment in advance will be required to register.

Junior Fishing Clinics:

This 1-hour clinic is specifically designed for younger kids ages 4-6 and a guardian. Learn the basics of fishing in Alberta together through hands-on activities!

All equipment provided. No fishing licence required.

Fee: $12 +tax per person
Who: Ages 4-6 (youth must be accompanied by a paid adult)
When: 10:00 am – 11:00 am

  • Sundays in August
  • Wednesday, August 16
  • Sunday, September 3 & 24
