Bear Closure – Ghost Public Land Use Zone - August 28, 2017

Human-bear conflict has prompted the closure of the Northwest end of Ghost Public Land Use Zone, from Tributary Creek basin to the east side of North Burnt Timber Creek within Township 029 Range Road 11 W5M.

Bear Warning – Elbow Valley, Moose Mountain and West Bragg Creek Trails - August 13, 2017

A bear warning has been issued for the Elbow Valley, Moose Mountain and West Bragg Creek trail networks. Numerous bears have been sighted in these areas as a result of a bumper buffalo berry crop.

Bear Warning – Paddy’s Flat Campground - July 26, 2017

A grizzly bear feeding in the area has prompted a closure of the Prairie View Trail from the trailhead at Barrier Dam Day Use Area to the junction with the Upper Stoney Trail.

Although an advisory is in place for this area, bears can be encountered anywhere in Kananaskis Country at any time.

Bear Warning - Sandy McNabb Campground - July 15, 2017

A bear warning has been issued after a young, black bear was observed at the edge of a campsite in D loop of the Sandy McNabb Campground.
