Grazing Lease Stewardship Code of Practice

What is the Grazing Lease Stewardship Code of Practice?

The Grazing Lease Stewardship Code of Practice identifies the roles and responsibilities that public land grazing leaseholders have.

The Grazing Lease Stewardship Code of Practice consolidates Environment and Parks' (AEP) requirements, including responsibilities and associated costs, into one document available to all leaseholders.

Signing the Code of Practice

On December 14, 2007, the Grazing Lease Stewardship Code of Practice was jointly signed by the Honourable Minister Ted Morton and representatives of the following associations:

  • Alberta Beef Producers
  • Alberta Grazing Leaseholders Association
  • Western Stock Growers Association

Signing this document with cattle industry stakeholders creates a positive message about leaseholder’s ongoing partnership with AEP.

Environment and Parks has collected feedback from stakeholders and is currently reviewing the Code of Practice document to ensure it is relevant for today’s stewardship practices.
