Air Monitoring Directive

Alberta’s Air Monitoring Directive (AMD) sets out the requirements for monitoring and reporting air quality in the province of Alberta.

The AMD is made up of nine chapters, according to the table of contents below. This table provides a link to each chapter and indicates the release date and compliance date.

AMD chapters will be regularly reviewed and revised as needed. Amendments or new draft chapters will be posted for public review on the AMD Public Review page.

The former Air Monitoring Directive (1989) and the 2006 amendment are available online. Note that some requirements in the 1989 AMD and 2006 amendment will remain in effect until the compliance date of the new chapters is reached.

A Correlation Table has been developed which provides a reference for the repealed and replaced sections of the 1989 and 2006 Air Monitoring Directives. Dates are provided to indicate when new requirements take effect.
