Making a Request and Fees

Your request must:

  • Be in writing
  • State that the request is for the purposes of Routine Disclosure or FOIP Act
  • Provide information about the document(s) to assist us to process your request; and
  • Provide an address for reply

There are 2 ways to access information.

  1. Routine Disclosure - scientific/technical information that is available under the Environmental Protection & Enhancement Act (EPEA).
  2. FOIP Request - information requested through the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP).

Routine Disclosure

If you would like to request for scientific/technical information routinely available under the Environmental Protection & Enhancement Act (EPEA), you can either:

  1. Fill in our secure online submission form for scientific/technical information:
  2. Fill in and mail, or drop-off the request for scientific/technical information form.

We will deal with your request as quickly as possible and aim to get the records to you within 10-12 business days. If for some reason we are unable to respond to your request within this time limit, we will contact you as soon as possible explaining the reasons for this.

FOIP Request

If you would like to request information through the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) Act, you can either:

  1. Fill in our secure online submission form for information:
  2. Fill in and mail, or drop-off the request for information form

We will deal with your request as quickly as possible and aim to get the records to you within 30 days. If for some reason we are unable to respond to your request within this time limit, we will contact you as soon as possible explaining the reasons for this.

Fees

If you are making a request for routinely available information, there will be an initial fee of $25.

We will aim to provide information without additional fees; however, it is possible that we may need to charge additional fees for requests that involve a substantial diversion of resources or excessive amounts of records. In such circumstances we will always provide you with an estimate of how much your request will cost before processing begins. If required, we will also provide advice and assistance to help you narrow or clarify your request.

If the total cost of processing your request is more than $150, you will be asked to pay a 50 per cent deposit. The records will be provided to you when the fee is paid in full.
